Keep Calm and Carry On - future resiliency

We are a social enterprise growing a network of body diversity clubs that challenge weekly slimming clubs to stop body shaming for profit.

The 'obesity epidemic' causes LESS harm than the 'war' on obesity.  We are raising our kids and ourselves to dislike our bodies enough to cause a £15bn yearly economic impact from eating disorders and spend £500m yearly to just stand on scales.

We are finding a better way to wellbeing for all bodies. Through social action and social enterprise business.

Why the contribution is important

The resilient generation 'of old' is disappearing.  We are more aware of mental wellbeing needs yet seem less and less equipped to deal with what this brings up.

We are part of a wider movement that is finding ways to bring reiliency back to society.  There are mental health first aid programmes, workplace wellness provisions and many more.

Our work changes fundamental converstions; that give confidence back to self care for the general population.  Broadening understanding and freeing up resources to be used and concentrated where vital.

Around 2 million of us attend slimming clubs, with a high proportion over 55 years old and female.  We get approached for help from male, female, fat, thin, young and old - asking for hep around self esteem and food choices.

Practicing body diversity, non-judgement and nurturing instead of shaming, image critique and weight monitoring if foundational to happiness in all of society.

An inspirational, much-needed concept which will make for happier, healthier communities and (ultimately) have a positive effect on the NHS

    These groups are
    Much needed
So that we can start to take care of ourselves through kindness and self care rather than being driven by a sense of failing in some way if we don’t fit a certain size or weight.

A great group very much required to address the judgement and stigma people feel based purely on appearance and size. All-inclusive, supporting and kind.

here are some recent endorsements for what does and can do to help...
Friday, May 25, 2018 - "Nutriri* is working hard to end weight stigma; bringing compassion, non-judgement and inclusivity to challenge dietland as a not-for-profit."
Thursday, May 31, 2018 - "I'm voting for Helen James because of her tireless work in helping people to improve their relationship with their own bodies and helping them with any issues they may have around food. Too many people, especially women, are struggling and suffering by the unrealistic expectations placed on them by society and the advertising industry to be a certain size and shape. With Nutriri Helen is offering a healthy alternative to diet clubs. "
Thursday, May 31, 2018 - "Nutriri is a practical tool offering us a new way to look at our relationship with food and our bodies, reflecting a wider current shift in society. It acts as a really positive move towards almost re-branding our bodies where there is more acceptance, compassion and reality. The research indicates a social shift of this kind could have some startling, radical repurcussions on our health and I salute Helen for fighting for that opportunity. The time is right."
Wednesday, May 30, 2018 - "Nutrition is key to health and life plus feeling good. What Helen and her team at Nutriri are doing is helping people feel good about who they are and what they eat. This has a huge impact upon their lives and wellness. I support what they are all doing."
Wednesday, May 30, 2018 - "Helen James is an inspiration to all women of all shapes, helping them embrace diversity of shape and bringing a healthy acceptance and celebration of their own bodies."
Wednesday, May 30, 2018 - "Helens passion and enthusiasm for this is infectious. She is challenging a huge ingrained industry and doing amazing work. Our culture is so fat phobic, that many overweight people feel trapped and don’t know where to start or who to ask for help to get out of our situation. Raising awareness, being a positive force, incorporating mindfulness and giving support without making you feel like your very existence is wrong or shameful. Fully in support of Nutriri and it’s important place in the world."
Wednesday, May 30, 2018 - "I believe what Helen and Nutriri* are trying to achieve through their groups and mindful eating course goes to the core of diversity. The values of the group are firmly rooted in the belief that each individual is unique and we all have differences. It is not trying to encourage any one group of person/eating habits but actively welcomes any individual with any types of body size / eating habit. It recognises that each individual of what every size can learn to be compassionate to themselves and learn to ‘love the skin their in’ and aim to offer the support that each individual needs. I therefore before Nutriri* offer a very personalise approach to the dieting industry that is based on needs rather than making money."
Wednesday, May 30, 2018 - "Helen has a great business in hands. It is something g fresh and different that need to be rewarded as her project is genuine, authentic and can help lots of people. I totally rely on her story and I think she definitively deserves that award for having created a business that will help people in so many ways: mind, body, confidence, self-aceptance, leading to wellness and empowerment."
Tuesday, May 29, 2018 - "Because Helen is trying to make a difference; change the culture of pressure on people to be and look 'perfect, to help obliterate the feelings of being inadequate, unworthy, ugly because of unfair and unrealistic expectations which sweep across culture and race. "
Tuesday, May 29, 2018 - "Innovative new idea to kick the multi-million profit making diet industry into the future. We need this to be a commonplace word in our lives. NUTRIRI. r remember that name. "
Tuesday, May 29, 2018 - "What an amazing, inspiring lady. She has singlehandedly revolutionised the way I feel (and think) about food, and how I eat. This was initially through Helen's free Nutriri course, but through compassionate eating and my love of all that Helen and Nutriri aspire to create in this world, I find myself more and more drawn to becoming one of the trainers to help take this body positive message worldwide. This is all thanks to Helen's nurturing, caring and compassionate nature and her tireless support for people all over the world, who have been stuck in the body shame and negative yoyo dieting cycle for years (for me, almost all my life) "
Tuesday, May 29, 2018 - "Because it's about time the diet industry had a kick up the backside and Helen is the perfect person to do it."
Tuesday, May 29, 2018 - "Just nothing inspired me more than Helen James and Nutriri"
Tuesday, May 29, 2018 - "I’m voting for Helen and Nutriri because this group is devoted to helping others, educating all and making a positive change to current and future generations. Helens positive yet compassionate approach speaks from the soul and touches the hearts of everyone she meets. "
Tuesday, May 29, 2018 - "Because this has to happen now!! Too many...most females suffer with low body image, when in fact we should be rejoicing our able fit healthy bodies. So ENOUGH! We have to change views and perspective. It is paramount for the worlds mental health that we females are happy and healthy rather than fixated and unhappy with our amazing self vehicles. Helen has to be made high profile. There is No intelligent argument against this movement. "
Tuesday, May 29, 2018 - "Helen James is on the leading edge of much needed change she has spear headed a supportive inclusive, body diverse, alternative to slimming clubs that welcomes people of all shapes and sizes. Helen and the nutriri team, currently consists of 50 volunteers and counting, who recognise that the current model of body shaming due to fluctuating figure shapes discourages body diversity and self acceptance and therefore contributes to serious mental and emotional issues. As a Nutriri training partner who has been working as an emotional health therapist for the past 30 years, I believe we can not continue to suppress this silent epidemic any longer. Body hatred, the low self esteem issues that arise from it, the bullying that people suffer because of it, and the societal pressure to conform needs to be addressed at a grass roots level. Children as young as 8 ,who need nutrition, are even dieting, continuing this cycle of self dislike into the next generation; something has to be done now to stop this. With your help nutriri can grow its network around the UK and educate and nurture people to realise there is more to them and more to life than just their shape and they have nothing to be ashamed of and everything to be proud of. "
Tuesday, May 29, 2018 - "Helen has help me see eating in a more positive way and to love your self . We meet each week and everyone is encouraging and supportive enabling to voice your views , opinions without judgement . "
Tuesday, May 29, 2018 - "Helen has enabled so many people to accept themselves, she is amazing and thoroughly deserves an award of excellence. "
Tuesday, May 29, 2018 - "Helen is passionate about body dysmorphia and creating a culture of self acceptance whether through disfigurement surgery, or just body size and shape Helen believes the NEW focus for diversity is on accepting PEOPLE for what they look like as well as all the traditional equality areas. Helen's campaign and social model is to encourage towns and villages UK wide to have a NUTRIRI club wherever there is a 'fat-club' to address the agenda of body shaming prolific throughout the world and encourage a society of acceptance where if people want to change they can but this is not by creating the norm of how bodies should look rather how they DO look, different and diverse from each other. No image we see today in the media hasnt been airbrushed tweaked or perfected to create totally unattainable barbie-esque dimensions. Our children as well as adults are being sold the misinformed propaganda about body size and thus a body dysmorphia generation has been born. Helen's NUTRIRI wants to change society where there is inclusivity for all based on who we ARE rather than on what we look like. Let's champion this pioneer and give her the award winning status she deserves "
Tuesday, May 29, 2018 - "This is such an incredible organisation. The work Nutriri does, and wants to build upon, is a wonderful model to spread across the country, giving support and encouragement to everyone that needs it on their body acceptance journey."
Tuesday, May 29, 2018 - "Helen's message through Nutriri is not just diverse, but her approach is incredibly inclusive and understanding. I believe she inspires others to similar levels of compassion and that she will change lives and the diet landscape with her innovative approach to wellbeing. "
Tuesday, May 29, 2018 - "I'm voting for Nutriri because I feel that more people need to know about the amazing work this company is doing to help the ongoing dietary problem that so may of us are facing. Learning about Nutriri has been incredibly enlightening for me and, as a person that has struggled throughout my life with self esteem and weight-related problems, it has been an incredible help. I know too many people that struggle with societal pressure to look and eat a certain way and the work that Nutriri is doing could potentially be ground-breaking. I'm 100% behind Helen and the work she is doing!"
Tuesday, May 29, 2018 - "Good approach to challenging health issue"
Tuesday, May 29, 2018 - "I’d like to nominate Helen and the Nutriri* Team for the entrepreneurial excellence NDA for their hard work to end weight stigma within the diet industry. They work with every body shape and size to enable ease around food and our own selves. As a not-for-profit they are finding ways to disrupt and change weekly diet clubs for the better."
Tuesday, May 29, 2018 - "As a social entrepreneur, Helen set up Nutriri around 2.5 years ago to change “dietland” and end weight stigma. Nutriri is a not for profit organisation working with people of all weights to teach mindful eating and help people discover ease around food, whether looking to change weight or not. Helen has successfully built a group of around 40 volunteers who are training in order to build the network and reach of Nutriri across the UK. The group is made up of individuals from varying backgrounds – teachers, coaches, nutritionists to name a few, but Helen has also recognised the value of the “lay person” and of lived experience, indeed categorising herself here. There is no judgement and the aim is to enable people to feel confident in themselves even if they desire change. Helen’s drive and determination recently saw her promote Nutriri and successfully reach the semi-finals of the 2018 Virgin Voom awards and delivering a pitch to the judging panel. "
Tuesday, May 29, 2018 - "Helen developed an accessible programme that supports people holistically through a journey to reconnect with themselves & their body image using mindfulness. Her option is the opposite to the hundreds of weight management schemes that regularly bombard your senses & of which target a persons vanity & poor self image with messages of ‘you should do this’ or ‘you should look this way’ then combine it with pictures of size 8 muscular women & size 30 waist men with 6 packs. Helen created Nutriri which supports the individual through mindset to address their dislike for their body, dispell their negative self image, become self aware & to love & appreciate the skin they’re in. Tackling thought distortion & negative perceptions with mindfulness & body positivity is radically different from the usual diet industry methods. General diet marketing fails to support individuals to make lasting effective positive change. However Nutriri engages you to become the best you from with in & sustain it. Her method is inclusive of everyone so is approachable and diverse. What is also amazing is providing an opportunity to others to share back into society the same values through social enterprise and connection "
